Center GYROTONIC® at the Seed Center
Erin Munoz

In the mid 1990's, as a young actress and dancer in New York City, a friend introduced Erin Muñoz to GYROTONIC® exercise. She loved it immediately. Gyrotonic changed her body and soothed her mind.

In the later 90's she moved to North Carolina where there were no Gyrotonic studios, so she picked up running. Upon moving back to NYC a couple years later, she got more involved in marathons, triathlons, cycling and adventure races. After a couple years of pounding endurance activity she seriously missed Gyrotonic movement. Though she loved the endurance sports, she had not felt as deeply strong or as present and open in her body as she did when she was doing Gyrotonic exercises.

She dived into Gyrotonic and GYROKINESIS® sessions again. Later, wishing to share this unique and fabulous exercise system with others, she became a teacher in 2005. She enjoys working with each client to help them unveil a stronger, healthier, more open, balanced and joyful self. Her approach to Gyrotonic methodology creatively follows the system's progressions, which make this unique exercise modality available to all ages and all body types.

Erin is certified to teach Gyrotonic, Gyrokinesis, Jump-Stretch Board, Archway & Paul Horvath’s Scoliosis Therapeutic Workshop. She is an Authorized Gyrotonic Pre-trainer and finds much inspiration in being a part of the teacher training process. She continues to saturate herself in Gyrotonic movement for a deeper understanding of all that it has to offer, for herself and her clients.

Lucy Yim

Lucy Yim is an advocate of holistic health, creativity, and balanced living. She has opened up to many different movement forms ranging from dance, tai chi, yoga and experiential anatomy. Watching generations in front of her suffer physically and emotionally from hip problems and herniated discs, Lucy decided that she wanted to improve her own quality of life, thus dedicating herself to conscientious dance and movement practices. While completing her studies in New York and working as a trainer at a physical therapist's office, a friend introduced her to GYROTONIC® exercise. Lucy felt subtle yet immediate changes in her body after her first session and knew that she had found a life long movement modality that worked for her.

Having immersed herself in the system and appreciating its long-term benefits, Lucy wished to share her knowledge with others as well as dig deeper into it. She started the teaching certification process at Gyrotonic Manhattan and finished under Emma Kingston at Center Gyrotonic. Residing at the Seed Center, Lucy's intention as a teacher is to facilitate a safe and challenging space for her clients to experience Gyrotonic movement and achieve their personal goals through patience, guidance, and effective lesson plans.

Lucy holds a BA in Liberal Studies from Sarah Lawrence College and is a Certified Movement Analyst from the Laban/Bartenieff Institute. She is an avid supporter of the arts and when not teaching can be found spending time with her husband, gardening and dancing around Portland.

Emma Kingston

Master Trainer Emma Kingston is certified to teach both the GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® teacher training programs as well as some of the specialized equipment courses. Emma is also a Licensed Massage Therapist and has a back ground in dance, Gymnastics and Capoeira (a Brazilian martial art).

Emma melds these influences together into her teaching style and works to bring a balanced perspective between the more technical knowledge of the body in tandem with the fun of movement.

Originally a native to Northern California Emma grew up amongst the redwoods and has an affinity for nature. Having grown up with scoliosis of the spine and foot problems is what inspired her to seek out an integrative system which lead her to find Gyrotonic movement. Emma found San Francisco Gyrotonic where she studied under Authorized Master Trainer Debra Rose. Over the years Emma has continued to work with Debra Rose but spends most of her time when she can working with Juliu Horvath.

After correcting her scoliosis through this system and straightening out her feet, Emma is a firm believer of the effectiveness of Gyrotonic exercise and thinks with the right mind set and determination coupled with the right teacher one can achieve anything one desires in their own body.
